To Kill a Mockingbird

[MyMemories/Book]
To Kill a Mockingbird
written by Harper Lee

Well.. I'd read this book about 9 years ago, when I was the 3rd grade of middle school student. At that time I picked up this book just because it awarded the Pulitzer Prize. So I couldn't understand the message of the writer, and couldn't catch up many underplots. I remembered that this book is about the things brother and sister experienced in a small town. Hm.. when I read it first time it was so boring and seemed to be a series of happenings hardly connected to each other.

After 9 years, I've grown up and read this book again. It was so impressed.. And now, I admire the writer. This novel has a lot of absortion force, so I couldn't stop reading. The things which have thought to be meaningless are full of meanings and metaphors. The atmosphere of the South, affectation of adults, and spoiled proud of the white are illustrated through the whole story. The speaker is young girl.. so we can see the events with pure viewpoint, and we can feel the emotions naturally.

In this novel, the human rights , old standards of ladies, and proud of family are critisized by a little girl's sight.
Most of all.. the human right of the black is emphasized. In contrast with the novels like "Jazz" or "Beloved", the writer goes on in a quiet tone. but it amplifies the emotions more.
