궁금해서 구글검색해봄 ㅡ.ㅡ;;;

Mathematical Olympiad Winners Honored
Winners of the 30th USA Mathematical Olympiad were honored during a ceremony at the National Academy of Sciences on June 4, 2001. Selected from a pool of over 300,000, these high school students received the top scores in a series of four rigorous exams, making them among the brightest young mathematicians in the world. Six students will continue on to represent the United States in the International Mathematical Olympiad at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. | |

Advanced Topics subject test

Reid Barton, Ian Le

Math Counts
The winning team members were: Tiankai Liu from Harker School in San Jose, Jongmin Baek from Hyde Middle School in Cupertino, Joshua Batson from Miller Middle School in San Jose, and Vincent Chiu from Palos Verdes Intermediate School in Palos Verdes Estates.

TianKai Liu, The Harker School, San Jose, first.

High school sophomore Tiankai Liu from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH, captured a gold medal during the computer programming competition
2003년에도 IMO멤버.

The Exeter Olympic Team
Tony Zhang ’04 (standing, left), Tiankai Liu ’04 (center) and Matthew Tang ’03 (right) are competing with the top math students in the country to represent the United States at the International Mathematical Olympiad, to be held this month in Tokyo. Helping coach the U.S. team will be PEA math instructor Zuming Feng. When it comes to math, the Exeter bench is deep—very deep.
Three Academy students—Tiankai Liu ’04 of Saratoga, CA; Matthew Tang ’03 of Hong Kong; and Tony Zhang ’04 of Houston, TX—were among the top 12 scorers in the nation on the USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) exam, a grueling, two-day test held this spring. Later this month, the best of that select group will travel to Japan to compete in the 44th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which draws math students from more than 80 nations.
Tiankai Liu, who had a perfect score and a first-place finish in this year’s USAMO exam, is likely to be on that flight to Tokyo. “It is thrilling to solve problems and it’s thrilling to be stuck on them,” says Liu. “It’s even more thrilling to meet other people. Having been to two IMO’s, I know what an exciting experience it is to be able to meet students from so many different countries.”

http://mathcircle.berkeley.edu/usamo.html
This year, several of the top scorers at USAMO were from California. Tiankai Liu, formerly from the San Jose and Berkeley Math Circles, twice BAMO winner in youngest age group andnow at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, received first place at USAMO as well as receiving the Greitzer-Klamkin Award for earning a perfect score.
http://www.bambooweb.com/articles/u/n/United_States_of_America_Mathematical_Olympiad.html
In 2004, the median score of the 265 USAMO participants was 4 points (out of 42). There was exactly one perfect score, by Tiankai Liu, who at the time was a senior at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.

I was born in Seoul, Korea, on August 30, 1983. I have a wonderful father, mother, and older sister. I moved to the United States at the age of two, and have lived in New Jersey most of my life. My defining achievement in high school was winning a silver medal at the 2001 International Mathematical Olympiad. I was the first Korean-American to ever represent the USA at this competition.
